This strand studies traditional sporting games and other motor practices as expressions of a community’s culture. From an ethnomotor perspective, it examines how the internal logic of games relates to the cultural elements that shape their external logic, such as place, traditions, forms of social organisation, festivities and systems of values. The research seeks to understand how motor practices help build and transmit cultural identities and safeguard and recognise intangible cultural heritage.
