Volume 22, issue 1 of Cuadernos de Psicología del Deporte published “Design and validation of games and emotions scale for children (GES-C)”. Its authors are Dr Verónica Alcaraz Muñoz and Dr José Ignacio Alonso Roque, active members of the Motor Action Research Group (GIAM), and Dr Juan Luis Yuste Lucas. All three teach in the Faculty of Education at the University of Murcia.
The article describes the design, implementation and validation of the Games and Emotions Scale for Children. It was developed to measure the intensity of positive and negative emotions that primary school students experience in physical education when they play games from different domains of motor action, with or without a final score.
The scale is intended to give teachers and coaches a practical tool to understand the kinds of emotions children experience in motor activities at school age.
