Dr Iman Nefil and Professor Mohamed Boutalbi present their new book, Prise de décision et performance sportive. Approche praxéologique.
With a foreword by Dr Pierre Parlebas, the book examines the decision-making process in games and sports.
A process is commonly understood as a series of operations leading to a result. How can we describe, explain and understand those operations when making decisions in a game or sporting situation? Praxeology views players as decision-makers who play with the difficulties of the game. It places decisions in action at the heart of physical and sporting activities.
“Players do not pick up information as they would a pebble. They construct it themselves according to their own strategic sensitivity, emotions, perceptions of others, culture and praxic skills. They then act in response. The player is a decision-maker.” (Pierre Parlebas)
